General:
What date does the Knaresborough Leisure and Wellness Centre open?
Brimhams Active are delighted to open the new Knaresborough Leisure and Wellness Centre on Monday 11th December
What are the facility opening times?
Swimming:
Mon-Thu 6.30am-9pm
Fri- 6.30am-8pm
Sat/Sun- 6.30am-7pm
Gym:
Monday-Thursday 6.15am-9.30pm
Friday 6.15am-7.30pm
Saturday-Sunday 6.15am-6.30pm
When will the timetable be released?
The timetables for the pool, group exercise and gym will be released soon. You can find information and all our timetables here
Can the general public use the café area?
We have a newly refurbished café area located in the foyer. It will serve a range of hot and cold refreshments and food to eat in or take away.
Our café is open to all, whether you want to refuel after a work-out, meet with friends or grab a coffee and a healthy snack.
What do I need to access a locker?
£1 coin or a locker token can be used in all our lockers.
Is there a day pass available?
Yes, day passes can be purchased on site for £14.50. The day pass will give you access to all our facilities, including the pool, sauna, and gym space.
Is there a car park?
We apologise that we are unable to offer car parking on site at the time of opening. Public parking, including blue badge bays is located at York Place Car park.
Disabled customers and those with mobility impairments can request support to access the centre. We have a wheelchair available and will provide assistance for anyone needing this to get to and from the car park.
Please contact us on 01423 860011 to arrange this. We would appreciate 24 hours notice but please ring the centre and we will do our best to assist.
Please note, there is an 18 stone weight limit for the wheelchair.
Is the car park/facility wheelchair accessible?
Yes. The Knaresborough Leisure and Wellness Centre will have accessible parking spaces and EV charging points. The building itself is fully accessible ensuring all customers can make use of our facilities.
Is parking free?
Completely free!
What is the minimum age required to join?
We welcome all ages to the Knaresborough Leisure and Wellness Centre. Membership options start from the age of 12.
What will the children’s party offers be?
We have a variety of party packages across Brimhams Active venues. For more information on what is on offer please visit our website here

Does the ‘Gym Only’ membership include group exercise classes?
Group exercise classes are not included with this membership. Classes are included within our All-inclusive membership or can be accessed on a pay as you go basis.
Do you offer Junior Memberships?
Yes, if you're aged between 12 and 15, this specialised membership is just for you, whatever your ability level. It's designed to help you feel more confident, boost energy levels and improve sport-related performance. Before you start, a parent or guardian will have to sign a consent form and you'll need an induction with an instructor. During the induction the instructor will create a relevant training programme based on your physical ability, capability, and gym experience; this will be reviewed like any other membership.
Do Junior Members need to book gym sessions in advance?
Junior members can access our gym without booking, simply turn up and enjoy. All group exercise classes will need to be booked in advance as these can fill up quickly. Junior members can use the gym from opening until 6:30pm.
Will I be issued a card/wristband to access facilities?
All members will be given a membership card upon joining. This will give you access to the facilities within your membership choice.
Can I have a look round the facilities before joining?
Absolutely, we would love to show you around! Closer to opening you will be able to book a tour on our app or call in when we have opened.
Can I join if I have a medical condition/injury?
Of course. We have a whole host of support available to you, whether that be through our dedicated wellness coaches or more specialist support from a GP referral coach, all of which have training in long term health conditions and injury management. Our dedicated health and wellbeing team would be happy to support you through your journey and provide the best possible programme to help you achieve your goals safely and effectively.
Do I have to be a member to access classes?
Not at all. Our all-inclusive membership will give you access to the whole group exercise offer and is best value for money if you are keen to attend several classes a week. If you would prefer to pay as you go then you can book classes and pay online or via the app.
Can I book classes on site or do I have to go online?
Our classes book up quickly. The easiest way to book classes is through our app. You can always call our centres or drop in to a facility to book a class if you would prefer. Bookings can also be made through our website here
Can I use the gym without a membership?
Absolutely. All of our facilities and activities are available to access without a membership.
Can I use my membership at all Brimhams Active facilities?
All of our membership products are district wide, excluding the community membership with is available for the wellbeing hubs only.
I froze my membership when Knaresborough Pool closed, will this automatically restart when Knaresborough Leisure and Wellness Centre reopens?
If you are a returning member then you can access one of our membership offers designed just for you. Your membership will not be automatically restarted. To find out more about our offers please visit our memberships page here
Is Aquafit included in the swim only membership?
Aquafit is a benefit for our All-inclusive members, alongside all other group exercise classes. Swim only members can access this class on a pay as you go basis. For more details on what is included in the Swim Only membership please visit our memberships page here
Can I pause my membership?
If you pay by direct debit then you can come and go as you wish, there are no contracts or joining fees with this membership.
I have been recommended to exercise by my GP, what should I do?

When is my direct debit taken for my membership?
Direct debits are taken on the 1st of every month, or as close to if the 1st falls on a weekend.
Gym:
Do you offer personal training?
We are currently refreshing our personal training offer. You can book an induction or review via our App to look at personal goals or have a chat with one of our friendly Wellness Coaches to find out more.
What does an induction entail?
Our induction process starts from the moment you join as a member. We are delighted to share our Welcome to Wellness induction process with our communities. You will be sent an email following successful joining of a membership, this will contain a link to some questionnaires designed to understand your habits and motivations. Once our dedicated wellness team have this information we will be able to offer you the most appropriate tailored service to meet your needs.
Can teenagers join the gym? What is the minimum age for joining?

Do the classes range in intensity levels?

Do I need to wear specific clothes/footwear?

What is Good Boost?
Good boost is a therapeutic aquatic activity that is accessible, affordable and individual. More information can be found here
To book a Good boost session you can download the Brimhams Active App, book online, call or visit our facility.
Swimming:
Is there an opportunity to swim all day?

What is a general swim?
General swims are for everyone to attend. The pool will be open for all abilities and ages during these times.
What is a lane swim?
Lane swimming gives swimmers a dedicated space to swim in the pool. Lane ropes will separate the pool and will allow you to access the most appropriate swimming space for your ability.
Are any sessions bookable?
Most of our activities and sessions are bookable online or through the Brimhams Active App. For more details or to make a booking click here
Is there a spectator area?
You can view the swimming pool from the foyer or while grabbing a drink in our new café area.
Do I need to bring my own swimming aids?
Swimming aids can be purchased in all of our facilities. Zoggs are our brand partner and offer a wide range of swimming costumes, armbands and toys should you wish to purchase. Please speak to our lovely reception team on site for more information.
Will there be a slide?
Yes! There will be a new flume at the pool!
Swimming Lessons:
When can I book my child in for lessons?
Our waiting lists are open now. You can join our waiting list here and a member of the team will be in touch to help you book your child in as soon as we have availability.
What are the payment options?
Paying for swimming lessons is easy. You can either set up a monthly direct debit for both swimming and diving lessons or alternatively pay per term. Our best value for money offer is through a direct debit payment.
How do I track my child’s progress?
You can track your child’s progress weekly through our swimming lesson home portal. You can also use the home portal to move classes when it’s time to move up to the next stage. Once you have registered for swimming lessons you will receive instructions on how to access the home portal.
What are the different stages of development?
Our swimming lessons follow the Swim England learn to swim framework. Preschool discovery ducklings and ducklings provide a great introduction to the pool and build water confidence ready for swimmers to progress to learn to swim stages 1 to 7 where children become competent and confident swimmers.

My children’s swimming lessons are currently at another site, when can I transfer them back?
We will be in touch with all of our customers currently swimming at other pools with further details of how you will be able to transfer swimming lessons back across to Knaresborough Leisure and Wellness Centre.
